Wood Turning is one of my new hobbies, having only been involved for a couple of years. I initially started off with a small cheap lathe and have just recently purchased a short bed Woodfast lathe. The reason for the short bed was I found I was only turning bowls and short items and because I had a space problem opted for this model. Although the bed is short the lathe construction is the same as its big brother.
Most of my creations have been sold through the local craft shop, with some items being purchased by overseas visitors.
So far I have been limited to a small range of timbers but now my confidence has increased and the number of attempted masterpieces ending up as firewood has decreased I am trying other timbers.
Some of the timbers used are Camphor Laurel, Silky Oak, Red Cedar.
